Matomo on 443(RHat) another application on a different port

(Andrew Davis) #1

Hello, i have an instance of Matomo running nicely on a RedHat machine.

However, im also looking to run another completely different application on that same machine if possible. Problem is, im not highly skilled at something like this in linux.

Anyone have advice for how i would learn how to do this type of operation?

Your webserver (so apache/nginx/lightttp/etc.) is the thing managing the 443 port. And it can host unlimited seperate applications by looking at the Host header (so at the domain the visitor wants to see).
So just set up another virtual host in your webserver that listens on another domain or subdomain and you can serve another website there.

Thanks… i will find some training materials and take a swing at it.

Thanks… dimwit question… do i create a new .conf file in the same dir as the matomo.conf file separately for each virtual host?

That’s up to you. A new config is more structured, but not necessary.
