Keyword - Page from Search Engine

I think this is a neat feature where many webmasters would really like to have. I think Mint and Google Analytics can do it (Google it takes a bit more work: http://yoast.com/track-seo-rankings-google-analytics/))

The feature is to track (when it is a keyword from a search engine) by keyword from which page on the search engine referred the traffic to your site. It sort of gives you sense how your site is doing for a given keyword by search engine.

You are 100% right, this would be a great feature!

Something similar was proposed on the piwik-hacker mailing list, and I believe there was a rentacoder project, but I have not heard more on the subject, nor seen it formalized as a ticket in trac.

edit: this is now ticket #502

it’s been built by a piwik consultant and is open source, so it will be published very soon on the website.

This is good news. I saw the post mentioned above at yoast a few days ago. Now I wonder, how this feature would improve my piwik experience. Bookmarked this thread! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

Thanks, that looks great… but I have trouble when I install it, I’ve download the last version and uncompress it in the plugin folder and when I try to activate it I get this message :

The plugin 'SearchEnginePosition' is enabled, but the file '/usr/share/piwik/plugins/SearchEnginePosition/SearchEnginePosition.php' couldn't be found.
To continue, please disable the plugin manually by removing the line
<pre>Plugins[] = SearchEnginePosition</pre>
in the configuration file <code>config/config.ini.php</code>

And in the SearchEnginePosition directory I have only two folders (DataFiles et Filter) !

How can I fix that ?

I’ve got the same problem.

I get the same message. The plugin does not contain SearchEnginePosition.php, but all other plugins have a plugin_name.php within the main folder.

I will write a mail to the author of this plugin.

This is useful, thanks a lot.

It seems that Google changes the Referrer:
http://analytics.blogspot.com/2009/04/upco…com-search.html

In the example in this article the part “cd=7” seems to be the SERP position, which would be much better than only the site within the SERPs.

searchphrase

12 is the Position

I did not know that google gave this information in the referer.

Any chance that someone update the plugin ?
It still missing the “SearchEnginePosition.php” file !

Please I’d like using this plugin.

Seems to have been updated - http://dev.piwik.org/trac/ticket/502. Downloaded and now installing…

sorry for the delay, we update SearchEnginePosition you can download it from http://dev.piwik.org/trac/ticket/502

Can confirm it works a treat - nice work style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

I confirm, it works fine, thanks a lot.

Is there a opportunity to link with the keyword to the search engine ?

This would be nice, to jump directly to the result page.

jr-ewing,

I have opened a thread about this issue some days ago:
http://forum.piwik.org/index.php?showtopic=810

This a great Feature, but it seems that is not working on my Piwik.

I`ve downloaded the file, uoloaded the content in my plugin directory and have activated the Plugin. But in Piwik I can not see any changes. Is there anything more I have to do?

I´ve installed Piwik in July of 2008, is it possible that my version is to old?
