Is a parallel usage of Google Tag Manager and Matomo Tag Manager possible?

For a change to Matomo I would like to leave Google Analytics integrated via Google Tag Manager and integrate Matomo via Matomo Tag Manager. The additional events should arrive via the dataLayer (GTM) in Google Tag Manager and Matomo Tag Manager.
Has anyone already actively implemented such parallel systems?

Matomo can use the Google dataLayer as well in the same manner as it would use its own _mtm dataLayer. Didn’t try to use these two in parallel yet, but I think just using one is even better.
