Is it normal for the Piwik.php file to take over 6 seconds to download?

I’m testing Piwik on a sample page. In the WebPageTest.org waterfall view it shows that the Piwik.php file is taking 6-7 seconds to load (is this normal?). This always occurs each time the test is run, whether the first view or the repeat view. By the way, is it possible for that file to be cached somehow?

Here is the page I tested: http://bit.ly/LNQFWR

Thanks!

No, thats absolutely not normal. Usually it takes only a couple of milliseconds to load. Check your hosting environment.
You shouldn’t cache it as you wouldn’t get stats counted otherwise.

Thanks Thomas. I haven’t the faintest idea what to do next. Any suggestions on what exactly to look for in the ‘hosting environment’? The server is hosted by Goddy.com. It is a virtual private server running Windows Server 2008 64-bit. I believe we are using IIS 7.

The first ‘clue’ that I have is the waterfall chart (notice the long green line):

In looking at the Request Details from WebPageTest.org I see some interesting info for the Piwik.js file:

Still need help on this one, anybody?

PS. I’d be interested in hiring a Piwik guru to help properly configure and customize if appropriate, my installation, as well as provide future consultation as my site requirements evolve over time. Please send a PM, thanks!

You must also check your connection speed

The connection speed should be adequate. The WebPageTest.org’s site test is consistently reporting this issue with the piwik.php file and they have plenty of bandwidth.
