How do I connect MySQL to matomo?

I am unable to connect MySQL database to matomo, anyone who knows how to go about this please let me know

What are the symptoms?
What do you see in the Matomo error log file?
Can you reach the MySQL server from the Matomo server (use the same credentials as the one you gave to Matomo config)?Does the Matomo user have sufficient rights in the MySQL DB?

Actually I dont have the data in hand as it is confidential but the data is in a remote server. any idea on what steps i would have to follow to link it to matomo?

We won’t be able to help you if you cannot try to access the MySQL server from the Matomo server and if you don’t share the log file (with sensible data obfuscated)
