Hour/Minute period for aggregated statistics

Hi all,

I know that piwik is based on day, week, month periods for aggregated statistics. However, I would like to know if someone has already experiment to modify it to provide hour, or moreover, minute period for aggregated statistics; and then impacted current graphs and tables to take account of this new period?
Or if you have any advise to be able to do it?

I guess someone created even a pull request that added this feature, however currently it would be to heavy for server to process such amount of data even on middle traffic websites (each plug-in has to process additional 24 reports).
