Error - Piwik upgrade to 2.2.1

Here is the error message…please let me know how to fix as this is the first time I have ever had an issue with piwik and i dont know php so well:

so ater this message it gives 2 text links, one to click to login…after clicking this login link, the page reloads and i am presented with 2 more different error messages:

The config setting that we added in 2.2.1 is not found in your piwik. that’s because the file config/global.ini.php was not uploaded correctly, please reupload it

Hello,

Where do i get this "config/global.ini.php’ from?

I didnt upload anything…All i did was click on the ‘update piwik’ button at top right of screen, and let piwik auto update as I always have…therefore, i have no input of how piwiks auto update process works.

Oh that’s strange, it should have worked. Then manually overwrite your config/global.ini.php with this one: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/piwik/piwik/master/config/global.ini.php

I have done as you requested, now when i go to my piwik url i get this error:

Variable “sites” does not exist in “@CoreHome/_siteSelect.twig” at line 24

You should have uploaded it over your file config/global.ini.php

as i said above, i followed your instructions (ie: i uploaded it OVER the old file)…if i had not done this, then i would still be receiving the old error messages that i started this thread with.

please advise
