Error in SEO Ranking (Piwik running on Amazon EC2)

Hi there,

I get the following error in “SEO Ranking”.


There is an error. Please report the message (Piwik 1.12) and full backtrace in the Piwik forums (please do a Search first as it might have been reported already!).

Warning: file_get_contents(http://www.whois.com/whois/abc.de): failed to open stream: Connection timed out in /var/www/xyz.de/piwik/core/Http.php on line 395

My Piwik instance is running on an Amazon EC2 Instance. Can that cause the error?

If modified the timeout in the “seo rankingchecker” php file from 10s to 30s.

Has anyone the same problems?

It’s possible that Amazon is blocking outgoing requests and therefore causing Piwik to fail loading the SEO reports.

I don’t think Amazon would be blocking requests, but maybe whois.com is blocking requests from amazon?
