I get this error in “Plugins” section in “Settings”. This is happened because firewall has blocked apache and outgoing connection to piwik host.
Maybe we need to use “if” function for proper checking for this error?

under [General] add
enable_marketplace=0
in config.ini.php
Not working. Even with this option piwik continues sending request to market place.
Are you sure you put the right text and below the [General] category in your file? check there is only one [General] category
If you still have the bug then please create a ticket at dev.piwik.org as we’ dlike to fix it indeed.

Hmm… Very interesting! After update to 2.0.2 it works good.
Can you place additional options in general setting for this?
