Embed widget data in html pages via proxy?

I am using proxy piwik.php to hide the source piwik install location. However for embedded widgets in html pages is it possible to use a similar proxy method instead of using the source piwik install location’s url Embedding Piwik Reports in Other Websites or Apps - Analytics Platform - Matomo ?
