Downgrade from 3 to 2.17

Hi,

I upgraded to the actual version, but a few other things didn’t work fine with PHP 5.6 and i had to downgrade to 5.4. Can I downgrade the database also to 2.17 or do I have to install new? I copied the 2.17 files instead of the 3 files to the folder but get the message that the database it’s already updated to 3.
