Does anyone need a Piwik Desktop App?

Hi Everyone

Sorry if this may seem spammy, I mainly just joined this forum to ask for suggestions and also receive feedback from everyone if it’s work my time developing this app.

I’m creating a Windows app that’ll basically pull data from your Piwik installation and show it to you in a nice UI and provide you all the necessary info you need.

Here are a few screenshots of what I’ve done so far, I will be releasing this for free for anyone to download.

Looks interesting! All the best for this app!

PS: We are working on HTML5 Piwik mobile app, maybe we could make it work on Desktop as well…

Looks really great! Is the code available on Github?

Unfortunately not, it will be closed source and available to download form my website (sinvise.net) after development is complete.

I really would like to see this app available to all of us, especially if you can implement it into the Metro dashboard and assign certain live data stats to it!

Great contribution!

Thanks, My next app will be to create an actual Metro app for Windows 8, at least you’ll get a full screen real time overview of your stats.

I think closed sourced is not the ideal way to go on a project like this. Since Piwik is open, why should end users trust your “gadget”?

I know I personally would not trust some random small app that the code can not be reviewed and is being trusted with very valuable data that can be resold to competitors, learn whats working for certain marketing campaigns and so on. The possibilities are endless really.

Good luck though.

Sorry you think that. I fully support data protection and I never code my software to feedback data to my website or store any data. The only data that is stored by this app is the token and website (which is a settings file that the user can delete).

If you still don’t believe that then when the app is released you can use the app with Fiddler and see what servers the app is trying to get into.

Thanks

Not trying to say that is/was your intent. I see the usefulness of your application and commend you for doing something for the Doze users out there.

Just my personal opinion on “trusting” apps that get access to valuable data that their is no way possible to review the source. It is just a personal prefference and one that my company follows as well.

Again though I by no means meant to mean it sound like I was insinuating your app does anything bad. I would state the same about Piwik if it was closed source and my company would not have deployed it as our analytics solution.

So is there any progress on this App?
