Database too big to backup

Hello,

we are trying to backup the database (after that we would like to reprocess all the data), there are some Tables in the Database that are too big and the Backup gives an error (sql loses the connection because it takes too long). Any idea how to get this backup done? Loosing old data in the process is not an option fo us.
