I have tried with Chrome and IE and Chrome reports: Oops! Google Chrome could not connect to piwik.org and IE: This page can’t be displayed •Make sure the web address http://piwik.org is correct. •Look for the page with your search engine. •Refresh the page in a few minutes.
Are the pages really down or is the issue with my computer or settings?
the fact that you managed to create this post shows that you can connect to piwik.org…well at least a subdomain.
you can check if a site is down using various web services… try downforeveryoneorjustme to check a domain. it sounds to me like the problem may be on your end so check firewalls, DNS etc.
You are not stupid. This program that added piwik.org to the etc/hosts file is doing a mistake. It would be really great if you could contact them politely asking to remove piwik.org from their blacklist. We have had this problem several times in the past where companies think we are a tracking service, but NO we are an open source project and do not track anyone from piwik.org
we would really appreciate that you contact this tool’s developer to ask them to remove piwik.org from blacklist to prevent this issue from happening in the future. Thanks!

Yeah, i would happily do that but i am not 100% sure which one did it. I suspect Advanced SystemCare 7. That program has been pain in the ass in other ways too
I will test that it truly was it and will send an email.
