Browser Detection: IceCat, SwiftWeasel, Epiphany, Galeon, Midori, SeaMonkey

i sometimes test, play around with different browsers, and it seems as if piwik does not recognize/detect all of them.

I don’t know why, perhaps these browsers are too unimportant (?)
my first thought was, that it would be a good idea to give piwik the ability to recognize more, or even all, browsers.

I have also do some tests. I have to say icecat, SeaMonkey and Swiftweasel are Firefox rebrands. There are no differences between Firefox and this browsers. There are no reasons to detect this as different browsers.

Than are Epiphany, Midori and Galeon the only browsers that are not detected.

pascal7 is correct. Piwik does group certain browser variants together. We don’t have strict criteria for this but it depends on functional differences, user agent strings, and device-specific tie-ins.

As you note in the subject line, we have grouped rebranded Firefox browsers (IceFox and Iceweasel) and Seamonkey (Gnuzilla and Iceape), as these are primarily licensing differences. Swiftweasel is a processor-optimized build.

Galeon, Epiphany, and Midori should already be detected as separate browsers in 0.5.5.
